Dyno Comparisons

With more V8 Soarers being modified these days there seems to be a trend on maximum power emerging. An unopened 1UZ with free flowing intake, exhaust with extractors and engine management, the maximum rear wheel kilowatts is generally just shy of 180 (or 241hp).

Mine has reached 178rwkw with the following mods:

  • Individual Throttle Bodies
  • Rush extractors
  • Dual 2.25" exhaust with cats and offset straight-through rear mufflers
  • MAP-ECU for fuelling

While I'm not running any ignition control, it is more advanced than the stock timing because as the fuelling is leaned out by telling the ECU that less air is entering, the ECU reacts by also advancing the ignition.

Benny Gammelmark who is a member on Soarer Central has a 96 V8 Soarer and he has also reached 178rwkw but the 96 onwards has a compression ratio of 10.4:1 up from 10:1 for the early 1UZ.

  • BFI #3 Intake
  • Rush Extractors
  • Custom exhaust with hi-flow cats
  • Unichip

I have also received information about a V8 Soarer which was fitted with an Xede piggyback ECU and tuned at Silverwater Auto Services here in Sydney.

"Its a stock standard 1UZ-FE Auto with a good quality high flow exhaust and slightly revised intake (K&N Panel filter). As driven on the stock ECU it turned 149RWKW ! (Nice huh)

Being a Factory Auto we needed to retain the factory ECU to look after the auto shifts. As such we fitted an Xede piggy back ecu which allows us to control the fuel AND timing (And boost if it had a turbo) But anyway enough about us and back to the engine.

If you have a dyno sheet showing similar figures or more let me know!
